Types of Massage

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Relaxing

Over time, the body builds up unhealthy amounts of stress hormones in response to work deadlines, traffic jams, relationship problems and more. These hormones can cause physical problems, like digestive issues, headaches and sleeplessness. Relaxation massage decreases the amount of stress hormones in the body, leaving clients feeling completely relaxed and rested, even after the session is over. The techniques used during the massage trigger changes in the brain's chemistry, resulting in reduced stress and an improved mood.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Strong

A Deep Tissue Massage Session targets the deep layers of connective tissue and muscle throughout the body. Using slow strokes to apply pressure, the massage focuses on areas of defined pain and tension. Injuries or chronic muscle tension can cause adhesions, more commonly referred to as knots, to form in the tendons, ligaments and muscles. These adhesions are rigid, often painful and they can block proper blood circulation, impede natural movement and cause inflammation and pain. When the muscles are deeply massaged, blood flow throughout the body is increased. The better blood flow reduces inflammation and therefore relieves pain.

COUPLES MASSAGE

SUITE UPGRADE AVAILABLE - Only +$10pp

A couples massage is a wonderfully relaxing, personal experience. During the session, two people receive massages at the same time and in the same room from two different therapists. The therapy provides many of the same benefits as other types of massage but with some added bonuses.

POST/PRE NATAL MASSAGE

After the First Trimester (First Three Months)

Pregnancy is a wonderful time of beauty and growth. It is also a time when the body undergoes many painful and stressful changes, and one of the best ways to relieve stress and ease pain is through a Prenatal Massage. Massage has been used for thousands of years to relieve stress, relax the muscles, and improve general health - and that remains true during pregnancy. While the essential benefits of massage therapy remain the same, prenatal massage requires different techniques to insure the safety of both the mother and the baby. With a few precautions (after the first trimester) and a clear line of communication between the mother and her therapist, there is little to no danger to either the mother or the child.

HOT STONE MASSAGE

Upgrade for Only $10

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Muscles & Injuries

Sports Massage is important for every level of athlete from cross-country runners to power lifters to football players. Before an event, sports massage allows for the player to loosen their muscles and after an event it allows the player to relax the muscles to decrease the chance of sports related stress injuries. Sports massage is also a key element in preventing injuries and also helping athletes recover more quickly from injuries. Using Sports Massage properly will help athletes maintain and even improve upon their conditioning. Three main types of massage are integrated in a therapeutic Sports Massage to maximize the health and/or repair benefits of it.

TRIGGER POINT

Muscle Knot

A trigger point (also referred to as trigger site or a muscles knot) is a very tender spot in the body, often an isolated area within a particular muscle group. Trigger points can make themselves apparent in visible knots or in tight bands of muscle fibers. Due to the tenderness of these sites, people often fell that the long lasting benefits of Trigger Point Therapy are worth the temporary pain they feel as a result of treatment. Considering that an untreated trigger point is likely to cause increased, spreading pain and future problems with balance and correct posture, the long-term benefit of the therapy outweighs the short-term pain associated with Trigger Point Therapy.

CRANIAL SACRAL

Head & Neck

Cranial Sacral Therapy is a simple procedure involving light, therapeutic touch administered to the head, neck, and other troublesome areas that prevents the problematic exchange of cerebrospinal fluid (or what is called arterial pressure) throughout the body, targeting cranial bone movement. Certified Practitioners of this therapy use selective pressures to manipulate the cranial bones, offering guests the feeling of deep relaxation during and after the session.  Clinical studies have also determined that Cranial Sacral Therapy has reduced the incidence of adverse affects in patients who have suffered traumatic brain syndrome as well as other accidents.

REFLEXOLOGY

Blood Flow

Reflexology is the process of applying pressing or massaging different Longitudinal Zones on each side of the body in order to stimulate the flow of blood and nutrients to other areas. Applying just the right 'touch' to the feet, hands, or ears with a specific amount of pressure and with a particular digit can yield truly amazing physical results. Manipulating specific zones of the body can affect the function of parts on the other end. Reflexology can assess and treat the whole body using this series of defined and applied points of pressure.
